ワシントンD.Cで開催された2017年度全米桜祭り（ National Cherry Blossom Festival）の開会式典で発表した作品「Portraits of Sakura – our memories of bloom」が、今年の全米桜祭り公式イベントにて再演が決まりました。演奏は、開会式典の為に2016年に結成されたクインテット「The 6821 Quintet」。
「The 6821 Quintet」により開会式でプレミア公演される楽曲は、伝統的な日本の歌曲「さくらさくら」のテーマが楽曲の中にアレンジされるコンセプトとなっており、毎年違う作曲家による新しい楽曲が発表されています。「Portraits of Sakura – our memories of bloom」約12分の楽曲のあらゆる場面にそのテーマが散りばめられています。
